Review I NYX Auto Eyebrow Pencil in Light Brown and Taupe

Best Blogger Tips

I am not blessed with thick eyebrows. I personally think i have the sparsest, thinnest eyebrows in the world. Without eyebrow makeup, i'd look like an alien. No Joke. This is why i never leave the house without my eyebrows made up. It's just too scary.

For the longest time now i have been very loyal to MAC Browset in Beguille and In2It's eyebrow cake powder. They're my eyebrows bestfriend. I got NYX's Auto Eyebrow Pencil because they were cheap (P175 only) and the colors seemed pretty in online swatches.

NYX Auto Eyebrow Pencil in Light Brown is a scary color for me. It's just too yellow and looks very fake on my eyebrows.

NYX Auto Eyebrow Pencil in Taupe looks very pretty when swatched. Unfortunately though the color was just too light for my eyebrows, and it was difficult to make it show up on my brows. I had to rub them in real hard to make the color show.

Here's Taupe and Light Brown swatched side by side. The pencil by the way has a brush on one end  which is useful for brushing your brows in place. It's twist-type so you don't have to worry about the hassle of sharpening. It's really very easy to use.

Left: Taupe, Right: Light Brown

Product Specs
Create flawless arches with this eyebrow pencil, a blend of vegetable, coconut and soy bean oil that guarantees a fluid application and sensational color. Use the built-in brush to blend color and style your eyebrows to perfection. Available in 8 shades (Light Brown, Auburn, Medium Brown, Brown, Dark Brown, Taupe, Charcoal, Black)

Available for P175.00 at Nyx Wholesale PH. (They're the cheapest!)

The Good
- they're really cheap
- very convenient and easy to use

The Bad
- both colors Light Brown and Taupe did not suit me well
- Taupe does not have very good color payoff. I had to rub the pencil real hard to make the color show
- Average lasting power, about half a day

Overall Thoughts
I really wanted to like this product. But sadly, it just didn't work for me. I think i was just unfortunate to have chosen the wrong color, I should have gone with something darker. Damn those online swatches. Will i purchase again? No. But i'll be happy to receive this as a gift, in another color of course. Should you try this out? Considering the price, you should. But be careful in choosing the color though.

Review: NYX Round Lipstick - Iconic & Perfect

Best Blogger Tips

It's no secret that I'm crazy about NYX Round Lipsticks. They're really cheap, offers a pretty decent quality and come in a whole lotta colors.

I already did a review about the quality of NYX lipsticks here so I will discuss more about the color in this post.

Here's NYX Round Lipstick in Iconic. This is one of NYX's newer shades. On stick it looks rosey with a hint of brown. When swatched it looks more light pink. I like how it looks on my pigmented lips, because it sorts of neutralizes the color and gives off a natural looking lips with a hint of pink. Iconic is very creamy. So creamy that the stick easily breaks when pushed too hard on the lips. On very hot days, this lipstick melts like crazy.

NYX Round Lipstick in Perfect is brown with a very slight hint of pink. On my lips it gives a very neutral brown look. The color suits me very well. It doesn't wash out and is not too dark brown either that i look like an old hag. Compared with Iconic above, Perfect has a better consistency. Not to creamy for it to easily break and melt.

Overall, these are two great colors perfect for everyday use and for work. Iconic would probably suit most skintones while Perfect would be best for morena ladies.  Here's Iconic & Perfect swatched side by side.

Review: NYX Slim Lip Pencil - Coral, Hot Pink, Nude Pink, Deep Red

Best Blogger Tips

Pardon my being MIA for the past weeks. Beginning late October upto the third week of November, I had been terribly busy preparing for our company's participation in  PHILCONSTRUCT 2011 two weeks ago. I was finally able to have a breather from all the stress this week, which explains why i am finally able to blog! Yehey!

About a month ago I had a major NYX haul at NYX Wholesale PH. Their prices are incredible low, so i obviously went crazy online shopping for some lippies, liners, etc. For only P95 a piece, who can resist these NYX lip pencils? These pencils come in over 60 colors and in different finishes - satin, matte, frost, etc. I got 4 colors: Coral, Hot Pink, Nude Pink, and Deep Red.

L-R: Coral, Hot Pink, Nude Pink, Deep Red

L-R (w/ flash): Coral, Hot Pink, Nude Pink, Deep Red
L-R (w/o flash): Coral, Hot Pink, Nude Pink, Deep Red

I super love these pencils! They're really creamy, glides easily on the lips, color payoff is really good, lasts long, and best of all, they're really cheap - only P95.00!

Coral is a true coral peachy color. Surprisingly though, this wasn't as creamy as the 3 other colors. The color payoff is great though, and i can wear this as a lip liner, or all over the entire lip. Just top off with a corally or nude lipgloss and it'll look great. As this color and formula is a bit drying, make sure to put on lip balm first.

Hot Pink is well, a true bright, hot pink shade. This is really creamy, and glides like a dream on my lips. The color payoff is really good so you can wear this alone.

Nude Pink is a gorgeous light pinky brown shade! This is great to use when you do not have any lipliner to match a certain lipstick shade. It's very versatile. Color payoff is average. This is not as creamy as Hot Pink and Deep Red though.

Deep Red is a true deep dark red. Great to match with deep red lipsticks. This, or any red lip liner, should be a staple in every girl's kikay kit. To properly pull off red lips, it is a must to use a lip liner. Great color payoff too and creamy so i sometimes wear this alone.

What the Label Says

Slim, trim but never prim, our lip pencils come in 60 dashing shades—from auburn to orange and traffic-stopping red. The buttery, long-wearing lip liner formula goes on easily and resists bleeding. Available in 60 shades.

Net Wt.
1 g

Price:
P 95.00

The Good
-  really cheap!!!
- good color payoff
- most of the colors are creamy & glides easily on the lips
The Bad
- quality is not consistent as some are creamy and glides easily on the lips, while some colors are not
- staying power is average

Final Verdict
For only P95.00, these lip pencils are such a steal!

Nyx Haul from nyxwholesaleph.com

Best Blogger Tips

Look what came in the mail yesterday? I love NYX!

About 2 1/2 weeks ago i placed an order for some NYX stuff at nyxwholesale.ph. They sell NYX items at incredibly low prices. The downside though is that all of the items are pre-order so you need to wait at least 2-3 weeks for your orders to arrive.

How it works is that you place an order on their site, pay 70% of the total amount, and wait for your items to arrive. The remaining 30% you pay when your items arrive. What i really like about this site is that ordering is so easy, they regularly give you updates via email on the status of your orders, and they have store promos once in a while (they have one now until oct.31 only).

Here's what i got:
NYX Round Lipsticks (P 95.00 / each)
Iconic, Lousiana, Femme, Spell Bound, Chic, Haute Couture, Perfect,
and Fig (now on my 3rd tube)

NYX Slim Lip Pencil (P 95.00/ each)
Coral, Hot Pink, Nude Pink, Deep Red

NYX Liquid Eye Liner (P 195.00/ each)
Black & Brown

NYX Auto Eyebrow Pencil (P 175.00/ each)
Black & Brown

I love NYX cosmetics! They're really cheap and the quality is really great. What i am most happy about now is that they are so easy to purchase. I recall having to order from Cherry Culture before just to get hold of NYX items and pay ridiculous shipping fees from the US to the Philippines. I can't wait to review all of these!

NYX Round Lipstick: Blush, Paparazzi & Haute Melon Review

Best Blogger Tips
It's ME day today. literally. It's just me in the house, and the dog. The husband is out with friends for many rounds of longboard riding. I constantly worry whenever he's out riding because it's just SO hot and unlike us girls, boys usually do not have a pretty good sense of what sunblock & SPF is.

So while here i am all alone in our very quiet house, i will be reviewing 3 shades of NYX Round lipstick: Blush, Paparazzi & Haute Melon.

L-R: Blush, Paparazzi, Haute Melon

I love NYX lipsticks, they're inexpensive and come in a wide range of fun colors - from pretty nudes to shocking pinks to bloody reds, pretty corals and outrageous plums and blacks. I was lucky to have found a new reseller that sold these lippies at a cheap price and is based in Cebu. This allows me to save on shipping costs as i normally purchase my NYX lippies from a manila based seller. You can check out her page here Krozer Fashion Shop

I already did a review of the texture and quality of NYX lippies here, so I'll focus more on the color in this review. I've swatched these lippies below and you will notice that Blush and Paparazzi look similar. On the tube, they are almost identical, it's difficult to tell them apart. When swatched  though, Blush is more of a muted rose pink, while Paparazzi is more on the brighter pink side.

Haute Melon on the other hand is on a totally different plane than the other two. Haute Melon is coral. Orange lipstick has been such a hit since summer and finding the perfect orangey-coral lipstick can be a hit or miss. I realize though that my skin tone matches very well with orange and coral lippies so most of my orange trials have been hits. I'm NC35 (with olive undertones) for reference so it may be safe to say that orange and coral lipstick would flatter morena and tanned skin very well.

L-R: Blush, Paparazzi, Haute Melon (W/O Flash)

L-R: Blush, Paparazzi, Haute Melon (W/ FLASH)

Blush has a creamy texture which glides on smoothly and is very opaque. It's a very pretty girly pink. The best way for me to describe it would be a muted rose pink. Perfect for everyday wear. One of my favorites.

Paparazzi has a very creamy texture and it tends to settle on the lip lines so make sure to apply lipbalm first. The color is cool, bright pink on my lips. A pretty color, but not one of my favorites.

Haute Melon is such a pretty coral lipstick. One of my favorites. It's a bit transparent when put on the lips so you need to layer it a bit to get the color you want. Make sure you exfoliate your lips and apply lipbalm before putting this on though as it tends to accentuate dry, un-exfoliated (if there's such a word) lips. I tried topping this off with Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Kiss Me Coral and it was sooo pretty! I am in love with Corals!

Overall, i am very happy with my recent NYX purchases - most especially Blush & Haute Melon. NYX has so many pretty colors I can't wait to try them out. I am currently eyeing Femme, Hot Pink, Peach Bellini on my next purchase.

I have a thing for peachy pink shimmery blushes. I find that they just suit my NC35 skin tone really well and gives me a nice glow. i love nyx products and during my last mini haul from CherryCulture, i knew i had to get this blush.

The Good
- i love the color! just the perfect peachy pink shade for me
- inexpensive
- a dupe for NARS Orgasm (i'll post swatch comparison soon)

The Bad
- Pinched is not as smooth and silky compared to my other NYX blushes
- don't expect the texture to be the same as the higher end blushes
- tends to be chalky and i experienced fallouts

Final Verdict
A+
The chalkiness do not really bother me. I love NYX blushes and you really get your money's worth! I will definitely repurchase.

I suck at eye makeup. big time. it's something i need time and patience to perfect. Eyeshadows do not excite me as much blushes do, hence the rarity of eye makeup in my blog.

anyhow, this is only my second eyeshadow palette, and i only bought this because i needed $9 more so i can avail of the free shipping of cherryculture.com. was it a good buy? read on.

Swatches

1st Layer
1.1. Frost. Light Beige. Very sheer. i need to swipe color a few times to make it show up on me.
1.2. Satin. Taupe. Very sheer. again, color needs to be built to show up on me.
1.3. Satin. Very light beige. almost nude. sheer. great as base color.
1.4. Frost. Champagne. slightly similar to color #1 only darker. more pigmented compared to the 3 previous shades. i use this to highlight my browbone. i sometimes use this alone for an office look.
1.5. Frost. Slightly dark brown. i use this as crease color for a subtle day office look.

2nd Layer

2.1. Matte. White. Pigmentation is fair. i use this as browbone highlighter.
2.2. Satin. Warm Brown. Not very pigmented.
2.3. Matte. Chocolate brown. Pigmentation is good. Excellent as crease color.
2.4. Frost. Light Pink. pretty pink color. may be
worn alone. very crumbly.
2.5. Matte. Black. Very good pigmentation. excellent as crease color.

The Good
- inexpensive. 10 eyeshadows for only $8
- eyeshadow pan sizes are decent
- comes in a sleek black, handy compact which makes it easy to carry around (roughly the size of a checkbook)
- excellent neutral color combinations. great for an everyday office makeup or daytime look
- powders are soft and silky

The Bad
- not very pigmented (my local 88 eyeshadow palette is waay pigmented than this)
- chalky and crumbly (i'll show pics below)
- i get lots of fallouts on my face because of its chalkiness
- some of the colors are too sheer (especially the light colored ones) and hardly show up on me

too chalky

Final Verdict
B-
Great color selection. Not too great on pigmentation and the chalkiness and the fallouts really bother me. Great neutral palette for beginners.
